Week 2 - Educational Technologies

This is a personal blog for my W401 class. The goal is to post my feedback on this page and provide students with the option to comment on my feedback. Suggestions, questions, and comments.

Week 2 Feedback

So far this week I have reviewed group 1 - 4 PowerPoint presentations as well as responses to those presentation. Overall I was impressed by what students posted for the presentation. Many were thorough and thoughtful, they were careful to present a clear definition of the technology they were discussing as well as example of how it could be used. Below are some of my more specific comments:
  1. Some persons in their response to classmates postings asked questions. Those of you who received questions take some time to go back and answer those questions, I like to read your response.
  2. Some responses focused only on the presentation design and structure. You also want to focus on the content of the presentation as well. How does the information in the presentation help you with your teaching? What connections can you make with what you have learned or would like to learn?
  3. Some persons asked about funding some of the technologies you mentioned. Grants are available for almost everything. You may want to check out Amanda Brown's (Team 1) comments on funding in her presentation.
  4. Use the guidelines for activities to help you to know what to write for the initial postings as well as your responses to your members posting. ALWAYS include a description of the presentation, document, or activity that you are posting.
  5. One sentence responses to team members posting is usually unacceptable. Do not post responses that simple say that a presentation was awesome. Explain why it was awesome and how it was helpful.
  6. Some of the great examples of presentations and responses are:
  • Andria Jo Deirth - Team 2
  • Amanda Brown - Team 1
  • Eileen Katharine Gonda - Team 3
  • Feedback by David Lukas - Team 4
  • Abigail Halers response to the Wonder Widget - Team 4

David is my middle name but I'm glad I seem to have understood what was being asked.
